Graduation Requirements

General Degree Requirements

The College of Engineering confers a Bachelor of Science degree upon all students who have successfully completed a program of study and have fulfilled all requirements for a specific major in the college. A grade point average of 2.0 is required for all courses completed in the college as well as an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all work attempted at the university.

A thesis is not required of candidates for the baccalaureate degree. However, the department may grant permission to exceptional students to undertake a thesis in lieu of up to four semester hours of required or elective work in the student’s department.

Exit Forms and Interview

Prior to final exams of the term in which the degree will be awarded, all chemical engineering graduating seniors must:

  • Complete the on-line Career Resource Employment Questionnaire at www.crc.ufl.edu.
  • Complete the department Exit Survey and Contact/Career forms. Submit these forms to Academic Advisement Office, 219 Chemical Engineering.
  • Arrange and have an Exit Interview with the department chair.

These exit procedures must be completed before the student will be certified for graduation.

Residence Requirement

The last 30 hours of course work applied to a degree must be completed in residence in the College of Engineering. The faculty will consider a waiver of this requirement for extenuating circumstances.

Pending Charge of Academic Dishonesty or Code of Student Conduct Violation

No degree will be conferred if a charge of academic dishonesty or conduct violation is pending where the penalty could be suspension, expulsion, failing grade, or any combination of the above, until such time as the charge is resolved and degree requirements are met.
