Chemistry Placement Changes
Effective: Summer A/C, 2001
The only change here is that the Chemistry department is no longer
recommending that students take the SATII Chemistry exam. Chemistry will accept
scores on that exam for placement, but feel that the SAT/ACT Quantitative score
(which they started accepting in the 2000 catalog) is sufficient placement. The
cutoffs are:
CHM2040 SAT-Q score of 640 or lower; ACT-Q score of
28 or lower
AP score of 1 or 2; IB score of 1, 2 or 3
CHM2045 SAT-Q score of 650 or higher or ACT-Q score
of 29 or higher
AP score of 3; IB score of 4
CHM2046 AP score of 4 or 5; IB score of 5, 6 or 7
CHM2047 Students must have strong AP/IB scores and
background in chemistry and approval of Chemistry Department or the Honors
Office.
