Advanced Chemistry Elective
The advanced chemistry elective includes a minimum of four credit hours (for
catalog year 2002-2003, three credit hours are required) of approved courses
from one of the following chemistry areas:
Biochemistry
- CHM 3218 Bioorganic Chemistry (4 credits)
- CHM 4207 Introduction to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (4 credits)
- BCH 4024 Introduction to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (4 credits)
- ABE 4660 Applied Microbiological Biotechnology (3 credits)
- CHM 4302L Laboratory in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2 credits)
See also the Biochemistry courses
discussion.
Inorganic Chemistry
- CHM 3610 Inorganic Chemistry (3 credits)
- CHM 3610L Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory (2 credits)
Instrumental Analysis
- CHM 4130 Instrumental Analysis (3 credits)
- CHM 4130L Instrumental Analysis Laboratory (2 credits)
Organic Chemistry
- CHM 4235 Organic Spectroscopy (2 credits)
- CHM 4272 The Organic Chemistry of Polymers (2 credits)
Physical/Molecular/Computational Chemistry
- CHM 4412 Physical Chemistry (4 credits)
- CHM 4413 Biophysical Chemistry (4 credits)
- CHM 4411L Physical Chemistry Laboratory (2 credits)
The specific advanced chemistry option is designated by the area of
specialization selected (See Area Specialization
Options).
Note that prior to catalog year 2001-2002, CHM 4412 is the required advanced
chemistry course. However, a student can change to the latest catalog year to
