Curriculum Up

Biology Courses

Beginning with calendar years 2002-2003, the Chemical Engineering BSChE curriculum biology requirement is ABE 2026.

Course Comments

ABE 2026

Biology for Engineers.  This is the course required in the BSChE curriculum.

BSC 2010

Integrated Principles of Biology.  The first course of the two course sequence BSC 2010-2011.

BSC 2011

Integrated Principles of Biology II.  The second course of the two course sequence BSC 2010-2211. BSC 2011 can be used as a substitution for ABE 2026.

Laboratory Requirements

The chemical engineering BSChE curriculum does not require a biology laboratory. However, students seeking to go into a bio-life sciences field often find that at least 2 credit hours laboratory in biology are required for admission to medical related professional fields.

ABE 2026L is a 2 semester credit hour laboratory that provides experience in the principles and engineering applications of biology. This laboratory can be taken either concurrent with or subsequent to taking ABE 2026..

BSC 2010L requires BSC 2010 as a concurrent corequisite.  BSC 2010L includes laboratory experiments designed to accompany BSC 2010.

BSC 2011L requires BSC 2011 as a concurrent corequisite.  BSC 2011L includes laboratory experiments designed to accompany BSC 2011.
