Transfer Suggestions
The following provides some insights into the several steps involved in the
admission evaluation process as well as suggestions on how you can assure
yourself of the most expedient evaluation of your application for admission.
- Plan for your transfer. As soon as you have decided that you wish to
transfer to the University of Florida, determine what
requirements must be fulfilled for admission -
foundation technical courses,
tests, foreign language, etc. Then develop and carry out a plan for
completing all requirements. You are invited to contact the
Chemical Engineering Academic Advisement Office
to discuss any questions regarding requirements for admission to the BSChE degree program - it is wise to resolve any potential misunderstandings and/or
problems as early as possible. Be aware that significant differences may
exist between courses that appear to be similar.
- Obtain an
application for admission from the University of Florida Admissions
Office. It is highly recommended that you complete and submit an
electronic version of the application form. The electronic web form not
only is transmitted immediately but can also be processed much faster. Hard
copy forms must first be entered into the computing system before being
reviewed.
- Submit all required application materials to the University of
Florida Admissions Office. This includes not only your application for
admission form but also all transcripts, fees, and other required
documentation. The University of Florida Admissions Office accumulates all
materials submitted and computes each student's grade point average based on
all courses previously attempted.
- Once all required application materials have been received and evaluated
by the Admissions Office, the application is referred to the departments and
colleges to evaluate for degree program admission decisions. The two major
criteria for admission are grade point averages and completion of
pre-professional courses. Note that if any parts of the application for
admission are missing including payments of application fees, the application
does not move forward for evaluation.
- Make sure that your latest transcripts are submitted for review. Sometimes
student transcripts have been forwarded to the University of Florida one or
more terms in advance of a student submitting an application for admission.
These outdated transcripts possibly do not include all course work taken and
can lead to a denial of the admission based on not having satisfactorily
completed the required pre-professional courses. Have an updated copy of your
transcript submitted to the Office of Admissions just prior to submitting your
application for admission.
- Plan your transfer so as to allow ample time for official transcripts from
previous schools to be sent to the University of Florida.
If official final transcripts have not been received prior to initial
registration, the student seeking transfer will not be allowed to complete
registration.
- If you need to know the status of your admission application, first check
with the University of Florida Admission Office to see that all required
materials have been received and that your admission application has been
referred to the Chemical Engineering Department for review. This can be done
by checking the ISIS web site.
Once your application has been referred to the department for review, you may
contact the Chemical Engineering Academic
Advisement Office to determine the status of the application review.
- Note that application for admission is good only for the semester for
which the you have applied on the application form. If you do not enter
at that time, the you must reapply.
Again, you are invited to contact the
Chemical Engineering Academic Advisement Office to discuss any questions or
uncertainty regarding chemical engineering as a career and/or the University of
Florida BSChE degree program.
